Affordable and Sustainable Healthcare Architecture
Welcoming Design with Cost-Effective Construction
Our proposal demonstrates how a welcoming and supportive environment in a beautiful building can also be affordable and sustainable. The simple expressed timber structure with short spans can be erected anywhere, easily and quickly using simple mass concrete foundations. Unitised pre-fabricated wall, roof and floor panels allow a watertight envelope to be achieved quickly and efficiently, reducing both construction time and costs.
Internal Garden Haven and Space Planning
By enclosing a planted garden as part of the building, we have created a haven within, a peaceful and uplifting space for users and visitors alike. The open plan internal space is neatly divided by meeting and counselling rooms to create the perfect mix of public, open and intimate private spaces. This thoughtful arrangement supports both community interaction and confidential healthcare consultations.
Passivhaus Energy Efficiency Standards
Designed on Passivhaus principles of high levels of insulation, minimal thermal breaks and summer solar shading and winter solar penetration, this building is comfortable year round anywhere in the UK with very low energy consumption. The sustainable design approach ensures long-term operational savings while maintaining optimal indoor environmental conditions for healthcare delivery.
This building design proves that high-quality healthcare architecture can be both environmentally responsible and economically viable while creating therapeutic environments that support patient wellbeing and community health.
