Regulation & Responsibility
The UK’s Net Zero 2050 target is shaping how we design and deliver buildings. New standards, including the Future Homes Standard as well as increasingly onerous requirements for existing buildings, have raised expectations for energy use, carbon emissions and long-term performance. Planning policy is increasingly addressing embodied carbon alongside operational energy. We work within this evolving framework to help clients decarbonise projects and retrofit existing buildings. Our architecture responds with clarity and confidence, ensuring projects meet current requirements while remaining adaptable to future change.
Designing for Performance
We design to the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, considering both operational and embodied carbon from the earliest stages. Fabric performance, low-carbon heating, solar integration, natural ventilation and overheating mitigation are embedded in the design process rather than added later. This integrated approach ensures buildings are efficient, resilient and comfortable to use. By aligning environmental performance with spatial quality and form, we create architecture that works as a complete system rather than a collection of parts.
Practical, Long-Term Value
Delivering low-carbon buildings involves detailed technical work, from compliance and energy modelling to whole-life carbon assessment. Our role is to guide clients through this complex process with a clear and practical approach. Buildings that perform well use less energy, cost less to operate and remain viable as regulations change. We focus on solutions that are robust, buildable and enduring. We ensure that sustainability supports design quality and long-term value, rather than competing with it.
